At Fairview Auto we specialize in smog inspections. That means you can always count on us for an unbiased opinion on your smog inspection. Since we do not do repairs, we won't sell you any. We are not allowed to refer your vehicle to any one person. So we don't accept "Kick Backs." We offer a 30-day pass or one free re-test. Most competitors offer 10 days, if any. We feel that's too short a time. Sometimes a part may need to be special ordered, or you may not have enough funds or time to repair the car right away. That's why we offer 30 days.
When you pass the smog test, the Certificate is automatically transmitted to the DMV. This is called an electronic transmission and most places charge you a fee for this, usually a couple of bucks. We charge nothing. Also, when you come in we will ask you for your DMV papers. If you have them, good. If not, don't worry, we can get the information from your vehicle, it's not a 
problem.

Answers:
1. About 10% fail.
2. If your vehicle fails, we will go over your options. We will give you a list of smog repair shops in the area. You may also qualify for a Consumer Assistance Program. If the DMV directed you to a Test Only Station, you already qualify. We are certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence and are a licensed Smog Check Station (Test Only) with the Bureau of Auto Repair.
